A Tribute to Yasmin – Friend Extraordinaire to MERCY Malaysia

Sunday, 26 July 2009 - Today, we laid to rest another friend. What a difficult year it has been for MERCY Malaysia. Yasmin Ahmad, Creative Director of Leo Burnett, Storyteller, Film maker and Genius was called to rest on 25th July 2009 at 2325 hours. I was by her side.

Yasmin was involved with MERCY Malaysia since 2001. She has been working with us pro bono to churn out videos, public service announcements (PSA) and other material. She has also been a donor and fund raiser for the organisation and the biggest public relations manager for us. She rallied friends to support us as well including the delightful Adibah Nor who would be our volunteer Emcee and entertainer at our annual dinners. It is a tragic loss for us.

Most importantly to me, Yasmin has been an extraordinary friend, always willing to listen, laugh and cry with me. Her SMS messages and conversations would always make me laugh and whenever I felt desolate, she would be there to urge me on. She never abandoned me even when on the front lines, sending me messages of love and motivation.

I hope you will be able to view some of her videos and PSA for MERCY Malaysia which we will attempt to upload on the website.

May God Forgive her, Bless her and Shower her with rewards for her generosity and kindness. And may He give us all strength and courage to face the days ahead without her love.
