Where Donations Go

As part of our Humanitarian Accountability Framework, we subscribe to the principles of financial transparency. Our audited financial statements are published in our Annual Report, and we hold ourselves accountable to our donors and beneficiaries.

Total expenditure by services for 2009:

Funds collected by MERCY Malaysia are channeled in various ways within our mandate and mission of our society:

  • Emergency Medical Relief reaches communities affected by either complex or natural disasters at the early stages when tragedy strikes.
  • Humanitarian Relief & Recovery provides the essentials of life as a foundation for survival whether during acute stages or while the communities are rebuilding their lives.
  • Psychosocial Intervention is an important aspect of relief that helps people build their coping mechanisms.
  • Reconstruction & Rehabilitation provides homes, health facilities and education centres at a time when infrastructure has almost collapsed.
  • Community Health Programme gives remote communities access to medical aid, dental and eye treatments through our mobile clinics.
  • Disaster Preparedness, Prevention & Mitigation prepares communities with useful knowledge, compounded by relevant skills to reduce future damage caused by disasters.
  • Capacity Development in health-related areas is shared with the medical fraternity and this supports the health development in these communities.
  • Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects provide publicly accessible safe and free water for consumption for communities which are affected by contaminated or polluted water.
