Head of Communications and Strategic Engagement
Key Responsibility
- As the Head of Communications and Strategic Engagement, you have the overall responsibility on the management of MERCY Malaysia's communications and public relations strategies;
- Develop annual planning and budgeting plans for the department programmes and its activities, monitor progress reporting and ensure adherence;
- Responsible for the administration and management to the department's day to day activities and operations;
- Maintain good rapport with the media and all stakeholders to enhance perception of the organisation through effective media management and media relations activities;
- Position, develop, coordinate and oversee all organisation communications and public relations programmes and functions;
- Oversee the writing of press releases, copy of communications, annual reports and other related materials;
- Develop, administer and review policies and procedures for the department;
- Responsible to identify and initiate a new contacts for the organisation;
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff and sustain good organisational climate;
- Provide and submit regular reports on strategic engagement and communications activities to GM, Communications and Fundraising, as and when needed/ required;
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to uphold and implement activities in line with organisation's fundraising and communications goals, strategies and action plans;
- To undertake any other duties of a compatible nature as may be required from time to time by the GM, Communications and Fundraising.
Job Requirements :
- University degree in Communications, Marketing, Legal or English studies;
- At least 7 years experience working in a corporate environment. Experience in an NGO environment would be desirable although not necessary, with at least 2-3 years of managerial experience or working in a consultancy;
- A strong background and network with the media;
- Excellent writing skills and able to communicate ideas well;
- Pleasant personality, likable, outgoing with good social and networking skills;
- Able to multi-task is a pre-requisite

Reports to: General Manager, Finance & HRMA
Key responsibility:
- The candidate is responsible for the development and implementation of web applications using PHP and MySQL.
- Maintaining computer networks and system.
- Regularly evaluate current computer hardware/ software in order to provide timely replacement or upgrade schedule.
- Responding to internet and network connectivity issues.
- Prepares documentation for inspection/testing procedures.
- Communicate regularly with senior and manager on matters concerning development issues and roll-outs.
- Closely work with other functional teams to meet the project delivery schedule.
- Other ad hoc functions as and when required.
Requirements:
- Candidates must have at least Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Computer Engineering or equivalent.
- Required skill(s): Javascript, PHP, MySQL.
- Good understanding in object oriented programming concept, and knowledge in design patterns and frameworks.
- Capable of creating database model based on system requirements and business requirements.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal guidance and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Must have good communication skills both verbally and in written form and able to work in a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Melayu and English.
- At least 1 year working experience in the related field.
- Applicants should be Malaysian citizens or hold relevant residence status.
- Full-Time position available.
- Ability to put in long hours when necessary would be a great plus.

Programme Officer Relief Operations Department
Key Responsibility
- As a Programme Officer, you have the overall responsibility to assist the Head of ROD (or his/her duly appointed representative) to prepare, plan, coordinate, implement, monitor and evaluate relief projects/programmes undertaken by MERCY Malaysia (MM).
- The Programme Officer is the point of continuity, following and providing input and analysis to projects/programmes. In addition, once staff has been deployed, assessments done, proposals generated and projects started, the Programme Officer becomes the focal point for all field activities at all times. Thus, the Programme Officer becomes the operational link between the field and HQ as well as between ROD and other concerned departments/units at HQ.
- As required, the Programme Officer will also be called upon to participate in needs assessments as well as in the setting up, monitoring and closing of projects/programmes in the field.
Job Requirements :
- Monitor MM’s entry and ongoing involvement in areas of operation by contributing to discussions and decisions regarding the strategic direction of the project(s) / programme(s) concerned.
- Provide information and operational support to teams in the field with regard to project/programme needs. Ensure that all projects/programmes are in line with MM’s commitments at all times.
- Provide up-to-date security analyses to the Head of ROD.
- Provide up-to-date information on field team presence and situation.
- Prepare for and participate in Department and other meetings as directed.
- Be accessible to both field and HQ staff 24/7.
- Maintain close working relationships with other MM departments/units supporting operations.
- Be available for short term travel as specified above as well as for trainings or seminars.
- Provide situation reports and other reports as requested and required by the Organisation by the specified deadlines.
- Both at HQ and in the field, cultivate productive relationships with all stakeholders.
