MERCY Malaysia Receives RM70,000 from Pharmaniaga to Serve the Orang Asli Community in Pos Kemar, Perak
MERCY Malaysia and Pharmaniaga
Berhad have kick-started a joint project to serve the medical needs of the
Orang Asli community in Pos Kemar, Perak, with a cheque handover ceremony held
earlier today.
The RM70,000 contribution by
Pharmaniaga Berhad will support the running of a two-year dental, medical and
health promotion programme. The collaboration will serve the Temiar population
of 3,500 and complement the current services provided by the Perak State Health
Department, Ministry of Health and Department of Orang Asli Affairs
(JHEOA) in the vicinity.
“The
support from Pharmaniaga Berhad has been unflagging and comprehensive; not only
in financial terms, but also with medical supplies and volunteers through the Skuad
Operasi Sihat (Healthy Operation Squad) Mobile Clinic programme,” said MERCY
Malaysia President, Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus.
“Since
the start of our working relationship with the Iran Earthquake relief work in
2004, Pharmaniaga has been invaluable in helping us to create long-term
sustainable programmes locally, as well as providing support for relief work,”
he added further.
“Pharmaniaga
is proud to support the plight for a better and equal access to healthcare to
the under-represented community such as the Orang Asli in Pos Kemar, Perak,”
said the General Manager of Corporate Communications of Pharmaniaga Berhad, En.
Zuhri Iskandar Kamarzaman.
“Pharmaniaga’s
long partnership with MERCY Malaysia since 2004 is not just a tall order but a
dedicated and continuous effort to continue “enriching life together” as
defined in our corporate tagline,” he added.
“Looking ahead, we will continue to implement
responsible corporate practices that create sustainable value for community we
served,” he concluded.
