2 December 2010 – MERCY Malaysia is fortunate to be the first recipient in Malaysia to receive a technologically advanced vaccine refrigerator which was donated by True Energy, a company based in Wales, UK who was here in Kuala Lumpur for the WHO 2010 TechNet Consultation conference recently.
This revolutionary advanced vaccine refrigerator can store vaccines safely even in remote places and harsh climates as its new cooling solution protects vaccines should there be any power failure for over 10 days at temperatures as high as 43
oC.
“It is generally known that vaccines are delicate and it is essential that they are stored between 2
oC and 8
oC, which can be a challenge as external temperatures can influence the instability of the internal temperature of a vaccine fridge. Therefore, we at MERCY Malaysia are excited at the prospect of utilising this fridge in our mission to providing medical relief and sustainable health-related activities,” said Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus, President, MERCY Malaysia.
The vaccine fridge uses Sure Chill
TM with an intelligent monitoring system to keep temperatures stable in every corner of the compartment and can react immediately to extract heat (if any). Best of all, unlike any other vaccine fridge, the True Energy Vaccine Refrigerator preserves vaccines at a constant temperature in a frost-free environment, at all times and has the flexibility to maximise whatever power sources available.
“Our revolutionary refrigerator has arrived on the market at a critical time. PATH predicts that up to ten times more vaccine storage capacity will be needed in the developing world over the next 15 years. True Energy is very committed to continuously provide sustainable energy solutions and we are very proud of the engineering excellence involved in the creation of the True Energy Vaccine Refrigerator. It will help in worldwide efforts to transform lives and we are pleased to be associated with MERCY Malaysia and supporting their good work,” said Keith Bartlett, Group Chief Executive Officer, True Energy.
The Vaccine Refrigerator is valued at USD2,000 and MERCY Malaysia is one of the first 10 organisations in the world to benefit from the Refrigerator.
