MERCY Malaysia Celebrates Its Volunteers Appreciation Day

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 December 2011 – MERCY Malaysia successfully organised its Volunteer Appreciation Day at Ampang Super Bowl, Berjaya Times Square in recognition of its dedicated and committed volunteers who had played a major role in both domestic and international mission in line with the organisation’s vision and mission.

In 1985, the United Nations General Assembly has declared 5 December the International Volunteer Appreciation Day and since then it has become an annual celebration of voluntary action for volunteers, volunteer organisations and government agencies all across the world.

More than 100 MERCY Malaysia volunteers including their family members together with MERCY Malaysia staff participated in the one day fun-filled event which included bowling competition thus allowing the volunteers to have the rewarding feeling in the spirit of volunteerism. The programme was officially launched by MERCY Malaysia President, Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus, who added that “being MERCY Malaysia volunteers also meant that we should try to have fun in all the programmes that we are volunteering for, get to know other volunteers, try to be a good team mate, built positive ties with one another as well as competing with one another to strive for the best in achieving our goals.”

During the event, a number of MERCY Malaysia volunteers together with MERCY Malaysia staff took their time to share their personal experiences while volunteering with MERCY Malaysia.
