MERCY Malaysia Receives Better Malaysia Foundation Person of the Year Award 2013

RM1.5 Million Received in Conjunction with Berjaya Founder’s Day

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2013 – For the third year in a row, MERCY Malaysia has been the beneficiary of the Better Malaysia Foundation.  

The Better Malaysia Foundation which was founded by Berjaya Corporation Berhad’s founder, Tan Sri Vincent Tan, donated RM1 million to MERCY Malaysia. On top of that, MERCY Malaysia also received an additional RM500,000 as a part of being the recipient of the Better Malaysia Foundation Person of the Year Award 2013.

During the event, President of MERCY Malaysia, Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus said, “We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Better Malaysia Foundation, Tan Sri Vincent Tan and his son Dato’ Robin Tan for the Better Malaysia Foundation Person of the Year Award and the huge contribution towards MERCY Malaysia. As an organisation, we are extremely honoured. We are also very grateful to Tan Sri’s continuous generosity and support over the years towards MERCY Malaysia’s work around the world”

Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faizal Mohd Perdaus also said that MERCY Malaysia plans to use the funds donated by the Better Malaysia Foundation to expand its humanitarian efforts and sustainable health-related programmes such as the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DDR), with a focus on beneficiaries who reside in Cambodia, Bangladesh, Mindanao, Somalia and of course Malaysia.
