MERCY Malaysia’s first experience in natural disaster was the earthquake in Turkey.

On 17 August 1999, a 7.4 on the Richter scale earthquake struck Central Turkey. MERCY Malaysia responded by sending a team of three (3) specialist doctors was dispatched to serve the displaced victims.
