This book is a small tribute to the selfless men and women who worked to quell the humanitarian crisis with an outpouring of service and mercy.
It is not a book of achievement but rather, a collection of human stories of the survivors and those who have reached out to help those in need.
Extract from the book:
"I was at the Kesdam hospital, waiting for vaccinations for my family. We were the hundredth in line. There was nothing to do except watch people. That is when I heard Ibu Jemilah screaming for someone with a car to take her to the airport to collect a shipment of medicines. My first thought was that this woman was so stressed she had gone mad!...those were desperate times. There were only four cars in the whole hospital as petrol was difficult to come by, one of the vehicles was mine. I hesitatingly came forward and offered my car. It was to be a meeting I would never forget."
Aceh local Bustamam Harun, more affectionately called Pak Bus on how he met Dr Jemilah, four days after the tsunami.
The book is priced at only RM 99.00. All proceeds of the sale would be channelled to MERCY Malaysia Humanitarian Fund.
(*discounts are available for MERCY Malaysia’s volunteers and students with valid identifications. Offer only available if book is purchased from MERCY Malaysia Headquarters )
