The Skuad Operasi Sihat Mobile Clinic is to add to their already widespread CSR awareness programme, the Mesti Ambil Tahu. The official launching ceremony took place at Dataran Labis, Johor and was graced by the Health Minister of Malaysia, YB Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

MERCY was presented by Y.Bhg Datuk Dr Jemilah Mahmood, the President of MERCY Malaysia, Dr. Heng Aik Cheng, EXCO member of MERCY Malaysia and Miss Ashrafiqin Ahmad, Communications Officer of MERCY Malaysia.

The mobile clinic is a converted ambulance that is equipped with basic facilities. It will be operated by volunteer doctors and nurses from MERCY, with the assistance from Pharmaniaga volunteers. Of course, the mobile clinic is reliable as it is endorsed by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia.

“Pharmaniaga chose to work closely with MERCY Malaysia in this programme because MERCY has a vast experience in providing primary healthcare to the rural areas,” said Mohamad Abdullah, the Managing Director of Pharmaniaga.

This programme is also a good platform to promote the spirit of voluntarism amongst Pharmaniaga employees and for the volunteers to gain first hand experience in health promotion programmes with the objective of improving the wellness of vulnerable communities. They will also have the chance to be trained by the MERCY personnel in areas of medical relief and emergency response.

Pharmaniaga has been a loyal corporate donor of MERCY Malaysia for a long time and this project further strengthens the partnership by having a more sustainable programme. The main beneficiaries are the marginalized communities especially in rural places, which will benefit from direct access to primary healthcare.
