From May 20 to 23, Umar Abdul Azeem and Puteri Rohayu Megat Yusof, programme officers attached to MERCY Malaysia's Disaster Risk Reduction Department, conducted, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, a school watching workshop (SWW) for 20 primary school counsellors. SWW consists of learning about disasters, conducting  field surveys of schools, and developing hazard maps and  action plans to address the problems identified. Upon return to their respective schools, the counsellors will conduct SWW's with their teachers and students.The Kapit workshop was sponsored by UNICEF and the Osaka Gas Foundation of International Cultural Exchange.
