In October 2003, floods in Kedah affected more than 20,000 people and MERCY Malaysia deployed five (5) teams to provide medical and humanitarian aid auch as clothes, blankets, mats and food items. A total of 25 volunteers and members were deployed to affected areas.


MERCY Malaysia began sending aid to the people affected by the flood on 20 December 2005 to two (2) relocation centres at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Tinggi and Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Baru Darul Aman in Jitra.
Among the items distributed to more than 2,000 people affected by the flood:
- Basic food supply - rice, eggs, cooking oil, sugar and salt
- Bottled water
- Blankets
- Hygiene packs
In January 2006, MERCY Malaysia volunteers were sent to areas in Alor Setar to assist in cleaning up areas affected by the flood.
kedah_flood_relief_2005_029websiteMERCY Malaysia also collaborated with PETRONAS through its subsidiary in Gurun, Kedah who provided volunteers, food supply as well as transportation and telecommunication facilities for the flood relief missions.
MERCY Malaysia has spent more than RM12, 000 in providing the mentioned items to the beneficiaries and the relief mission was mobilised through its northern chapter with the help from its volunteers, led by Mejar Ret. Anuar Bin Abdul Hamid.
