KUALA LUMPUR, 26 September 2007 – The Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY Malaysia) is deploying a six-member team in its second mission to Bengkulu, Indonesia to oversee the distribution of its relief aid to the victims of the recent earthquake that rocked the west coast of Sumatera.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – In response to the devastation that Cyclone Yemyin has caused, MERCY Malaysia will mobilize its first 5-member medical and assessment relief team into the Pakistani provinces of Balochistan and Sindh on the 5th of July 2007.

Kuala Lumpur, 14 February 2007 – In line with a directive from Indonesia’s Ministry of Health to all international NGOs currently working in the country, MERCY Malaysia announced today that it is closing its medical and humanitarian relief operations in Jakarta. Indonesian authorities have communicated their capabilities in coping internally with the crisis, and therefore do not need additional international assistance anymore. As a result, MERCY Malaysia is now in the midst of handing over its operations that include the passing on of medical supplies and hygiene kits to their local partner organization, MER-C Indonesia.

Tuesday – MERCY Malaysia is pleased to announce the opening of its Sarawak Chapter office in Miri. The MERCY Malaysia Sarawak Chapter (MMSC) was established in 2004 and since then our team of volunteers has been providing medical and humanitarian aid to indigenous communities living in the interior of Sarawak. Our mission serves over 5,000 beneficiaries in areas covering Long Bedian, Long Seridan, Long Bemam and Long Silat.
