Unilever’s ‘Malaysians Favourites’ Campaign Lend Support To MERCY Malaysia PDF Print E-mail

In line with its ‘Vitality’ mission of doing good for the community, Unilever (Malaysia) Holdings Sdn Bhd has embarked on a ‘Malaysian Favourites’ Campaign at all Tesco stores nationwide beginning 29 July 2009 and ended on 26 August 2009.

The month-long campaign will see a portion of every sale of six popular Unilever brands, namely Sunsilk, Lifebuoy, Breeze, Lipton, Rexona and Planta be donated to MERCY Malaysia’s Humanitarian Fund to help fund its humanitarian relief activities.

MERCY Malaysia announces new leadership PDF Print E-mail

MERCY Malaysia today announced its new transformation in its leadership with the stepping down of its inaugural president and founder, Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah Mahmood.

Tan Sri Dr. Jemilah Mahmood has been appointed to the post of Chief of the Humanitarian Response Branch, United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA). She will be based at its headquarters in New York, effective 15 August 2009.

“We must involve communities in disaster management as our focus is to rebuild communities after a disaster and educate them on how to prevent the next one,” said Mohd Radzi Jamaludin, MERCY Malaysia Head of Human Resources and Volunteer Management and the training course coordinator, said.

Mohd Radzi was met after the Disaster Response and Recovery (DRR) training course organised by MERCY Malaysia and funded by the Economic Planning Unit.

Sri Lanka Relief Fund Update PDF Print E-mail

A Malaysian humanitarian organisation has succeeded in providing aid to displaced communities in Sri Lanka where others are still struggling to gain access.

“We have been extremely lucky to be given the opportunity by the Sri Lankan authorities to work in Manik Farm, where we first went to work equipping four 40-foot containers into health posts, which were handed over to the Sri Lanka Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition on May 8,” MERCY Malaysia Acting President Dr Ahmad Faizal Perdaus said in a statement.
