School Preparedness Programme

Hembusan nafas kian sengsara
Udara fana sudah tiada harga.
Asap dan debu tanah kini berkuasa
Dihadirkan musibah oleh pencipta
Jerebu durjana pencetus binasa.

The Programme contributes to disaster awareness in schools and facilitates disaster management planning in schools. It supports the Ministry of Education's Sekolah Selamat programme and Emergency Preparedness Programme, by providing practical, hands-on activities in schools. It engages students to take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.
It is an exciting for us to undertake a disaster risk reduction project of this nature with the future leaders of Malaysia. It is also our first collaboration with the Ministry of Education. With the increasing need for disaster preparedness and disaster education, MERCY Malaysia is looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with the Ministry.
The School Preparedness Programme aims to:
- promote a culture of disaster preparedness and
- increase the capacity of schools and students to respond to disasters.
The School Preparedness Programme consists of 2 separate programmes that contribute to its objectives.
These programmes are:
Through these initiatives the programme will increase the capacity of schools to respond to natural disasters and also increase community awareness about the importance of disaster preparedness and how to remain safe in these situations. Teaching students about disaster preparedness will help to build greater awareness across the whole community.
