    • the importance of disaster preparedness
    • the principles of School Watching
    • the importance of conducting Awareness Raising activities

  2. provide participants with practical experience
    • Conducting school watching
    • Developing awareness raising material

  3. ensure participants be able to train other students and teachers at their school

  4. ensure participants have an implementation plan to
    • introduce School Watching
    • conduct awareness raising activities at their own schools.

Pilot School Watching ToT

The School Watching technique was introduced to more than 150 primary school counsellors in a series of pilot workshops held in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Terengganu in December 2007.

During the workshop teachers trained in the Emergency Preparedness Programme by the Ministry of Education shared their experiences in developing Pelan Tindakan Sekolah in their schools.

The participants in these workshops will be at the forefront of introducing the School Watching technique in Malaysian schools to spread the message of School Disaster Preparedness.
