Aug 10, 2018 PETALING JAYA: Mercy Malaysia will deploy a third team to Lombok to assist victims of the earthquake. Mercy exco member Norazam Ab Samah said the team will join the current team of 17 personnel who are representing Mercy Malaysia and its local partner PKPU Human Initiative. Norazam said they plan to set up childfriendly spaces and conduct Psychosocial First Aid training for the communities. He said there are now 800 families affected by the earthquake in Desa Tembohor, Lombok Utara. With many homes destroyed, Mercy Malaysia hopes to provide more immediate humanitarian assistance in the form of temporary shelter, hygiene kits and blankets. Earlier, Reuters reported that another strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 hit the island which caused some buildings to collapse, according to witnesses and the country’s meteoreology and geophysics agency. “We are safe and accounted for,” he said when asked to comment on the team’s safety.
